Beginning 32 km from Uttarkashi, at the hamlet of Barsu on the Haridwar-Gangotri Road, one can have a view of life at Barsu village with a stroll around and find about their lifestyle and culture when you need a rest from the hustle of busy city life.

From there, the trek to Dayara Bugyal takes you across the green prairies with the beautiful lake Barnala Tal on route that makes the trip even more fulfilling. The mesmerizing Oak and maple forests, pristine water bodies, sprawling spread of grasslands dotted by tiny huts and grazing sheep with the rising peaks in the backdrop offers a picturesque view. The numerous wild flowers including the splendid rhododendron flowers add colour to this beautiful landscape. In winters, snow covers it making it a paradise for Ski lovers to enjoy various snow activities.

 

The majestic view of Gangotri range from this trek will make you nostalgic and take you back to the century where Goddess Ganga transformed herself into a river for the dissolutions from the sins of King Bhagirath's ancestors, following his penance. The various peaks that can be seen include the majestic Shrikhand Mahadev, Kala Nag, Bandarpoonch, Srikanth Peak and Gangotri peaks.
